Green Roots is an award-winning nursery and pre-school located in the Hampshire village of Southbourne, near Emsworth.
Owners Gemma and Harry offer a holistic approach to childcare, which sits at the heart of the organisation. They were keen to convey this through an update to the overall look and feel of the Green Roots brand, as well as the design and development of a new website.
Initially we undertook a full audit of their existing brand and came up with a number of impactful design solutions. With the website in need of a more playful yet informative feel, we started by defining the colour palette, exploring new typography, creating patterns and textures, and designing bespoke illustrative icons.
The existing website was carefully reviewed, looking at ways to improve the sitemap, design and overall user experience. New web pages were designed using the refreshed brand style. Images were increased in size and placed regularly throughout the site, bringing greater focus to the facilities and activities that the nursery has to offer, whilst also showing the enjoyment the children gain while spending their time there.
Testimonials from parents were included to help reinforce the quality of care and child development; crucial at a time when parents have been unable to take a tour of the nursery due to Covid-19 restrictions.
We provided richer copy content across the website offering users a deeper awareness of the nursery’s ethos and objectives. A blog page was added to the website, for which we wrote and uploaded a number of blog posts.
The client was very keen to move admin processes towards digital, and an online ‘Register your Child’ form which parents can complete easily and conveniently, was added to their website to replace their paper form. Parents can now register their child, select activity sessions and pay fees & deposits online via the form.
Also high on the client’s list were redesigned social media pages, social media content management and graphic assets; all of which were implemented cohesively across the Green Roots Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn channels to tie in with the brand update.
